Leavers

Reasons for Leaving Vermont by Gender and Educational Attainment
Leavers report multiple different factors for moving out of Vermont. Work, earnings potential, and a desire to live in an area with greater cultural diversity or in an urban area are the most frequently cited factors. Some of these factors vary by gender and educational attainment. For example, men are much more likely than women to say their work is located outside of Vermont. People with a graduate degree are much more likely  to say their work is outside Vermont  than people with some college or less, while people with lower educational attainment  are the most likely to say Vermont's cost of living is too high.  Most leavers (85%) say they feel homesickness for Vermont.
